Every month we are adding new schools to our program. Once we have been approved by your school, mySmartDorm will post information. You can also provide us with your contact information here. We will let you know when we are renting at your school! And if we have a lot of interest from one school, we will try to hasten our agreement with the administration so you can enjoy the benefits of our service!
My school already has a program. Can I still rent from you?
Yes! You may want to compare prices! Also, most schools do not rent the game console either. We will not be able to deliver on move-in day, but can set up a convenient time for install. Just contact us here and we will let you know how we can best help you.
My school has a program with a storage company. Why shouldn’t I just buy a TV and store it?
The cost to store the TV can cost up to $100 for the summer. And if you decide to go abroad for a session, that would be an additional cost. Renting, in the long run, saves you the rental costs while providing you with a quality TV. You don’t have to worry that your un-boxed television will get accidentally damaged during the moves - we take care of that for you as well!
What if I do not know my other roommates but I want to start an order?
Not a problem! You can add their email addresses later. It is best to complete the contact form here. mySmartDorm will make sure the information is added and your bunk mates will get their welcome email!
Can I change or cancel my order once I submit it?
Yes, you can. You have up to 3 business days to cancel your order without a restocking charge of $50. It’s best that you complete the contact form here to let us know as soon as possible!
Can I reserve additional items after I submit my order?
Absolutely! If they are units to be added to the split order, just let us know! It’s best to use the on-line contact form here so we can make sure to deliver it quickly! If this is a new item that only you will be paying, it is best to start a new order just for you! Just go to our on-line order page to create a new order!
How do I split the payments with my roommates?
That’s what is so great about our program! You do not need to collect your roommates share of the rent, we do that for you! They will be required to provide mySmartDorm with their own payment information. We will collect it directly from them! No hassles, no stress!
How many people can split the rental order?
You can share the cost with up to 8 roommates.
Are all roommates listed on the lease?
Each of your roommates will enter into their own agreement with mySmartDorm. However, the primary renter is the person who initiates the order. So he/she will ultimately be responsible for unpaid portion of their bunk mates rent.
How do my roommates know what to do?
Once you complete the reservation order and provide us with their email addresses, we will send them notification with a link for them to provide mySmartDorm their billing information.
What are the different methods of payment?
At this time, mySmartDorm accepts payment from major credit cards.
How long are the contracts?
mySmartDorm offers short-term leases to match the academic school year, typically 8 months.
What if I know that I will be on campus for longer than the academic year?
Not a problem! mySmartDorm also provides summer and camp rentals! You can either contact us using the form here or create a new order for the summer or camp session. The rates will depend upon the rental session.
When will my unit(s) be delivered?
My SmartDorm attempts to work with the School to install the units prior to move-in day. However, in the event we cannot, a mySmartDorm representative will contact you directly by either text on email, whichever you note on your reservation order.
Do I need to be there for the delivery?
At least one of the roommates should be present so that you can ensure that the unit(s) is in working order. Additionally, we need someone to provide us access to the residence hall and room!
Can I buy the unit(s) at the end of the rental period?
Yes, you can buy the item(s) at the end of the rental period. Each unit’s purchase price depends upon the age of the unit. Just let us know 30 days before the end of the lease and we will let you know the purchase price. It is best to complete the contact form here.
What if more than one roommate wants to purchase the unit at the end of the rental period?
Not a problem. mySmartDorm will provide purchase options for other units to your roommates. Just let us know by completing the contact form here.
What if my unit breaks?
mySmartDorm will replace the unit with a similar rental item within 48 hours. It is best to complete the contact form here and we will schedule a pick-up and replacement.
Do I need to purchase insurance?
No, you are not required to purchase insurance. Each roommate elects the purchase individually and may be purchased by one or all roommates.
Do I need to buy insurance if I rent more than one Tech?
Yes, the insurance will need to be purchased for each Tech item. The insurance per Smart TV is $60; the insurance for the Sony PS 4 with two controllers is $50. If you rent additional controllers, the insurance is $25 per controller.
What does insurance cover?
The insurance will cover the purchasing Lessee’s portion of damage. If your unit breaks due to an accident, each roommate will be responsible for their portion of the replacement costs. For instance, if you have split the lease with 4 other roommates, you each are responsible for 25% of the replacement costs. If the tech replacement cost is $200 and you did not purchase the insurance for $15.00, then you will be billed $50.00. If you are the only Lessee and your unit breaks and you did not elect the insurance for $60, then you will be billed the entire $200. As per the rental agreement, mySmartDorm assumes liability for units that have stopped working due to normal wear and tear. However, if the unit is damaged by other means (dropped, submerged in water, etc), the deposit will be used to covert he cost to replace the unit(s) for the roommates who purchase insurance at time of rental.
How do I schedule a pick-up at the end of the lease?
It is best to complete the contact form here. mySmartDorm requires at least 5 business day notice for a pick up. A representative will contact you directly to schedule the best day and time for pick up.
